Dr. Rióna Ní Fhrighil is a lecturer in the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures in the National University of Ireland, Galway. She teaches contemporary Irish-language prose and poetry at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Rióna's doctoral thesis was a comparative study of the poetry of Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill and Eavan Boland and was published under the title Briathra, Béithe agus Banfhilí (An Clóchomhar, 2008). She is editor of Filíocht Chomhaimseartha na Gaeilge (Cois Life, 2012), a collection of critical essays on contemporary Irish-language poetry. She is co-editor of the book Aistriú Éireann (Queen’s University Press, 2008), an anthology of essays on literary translation in Ireland. She has published numerous academic articles and book chapters on contemporary Irish-language poetry and has contributed to literary programmes on RTÉ Radio and Television.
